Ovation Communities has reached out to our congregation to lead Shabbat Kehilah Services for their residents. Prior to the COVID outbreak, CEEBJ along with other congregations participated in leading Kehilah Services. Neil Hootkin of blessed memory was the organizer of the Kehilah Services for our congregation.

Leviticus 19:32, states “You shall rise before the aged and show deference to the old; you shall revere your God, I am the eternal.” Realization and substantiation of respect for age and lived experience is a tenet of Jewish tradition. The repercussion of this edict is to acknowledge and exhibit respect for the elderly.

We act on this edict by organizing two Shabbat Kehilah Services: Saturday, March 1 and Saturday, June 7, both beginning at 2:00pm. Let us know if you wish to participate by reading English or Hebrew portions. Being a participant in the Kehilah Service is our hope, but your attendance is a fulfillment of Leviticus 19:32 honor the elderly and realization of the vibrancy of our community.
