From Our President

If you have any lingering goals you want to accomplish this year, now is a great time to renew your focus on them. The last few months of the year are prime to buckle down, end on a high note, and start off next year strong. Since you have a few weeks left in December, you may need to adjust your goals. Given the time you have left, you may need to adjust your goals. For example, instead of redoing your whole budget or trying to meet a huge savings goal, you could opt for an end of year financial tune-up. Instead of trying to lose 20 pounds, adjust to hitting the gym twice a week for the rest of the year. Making an effort to wrap up side projects or jump back into personal goals ends your year on a productive note and gives you a fresh start to the new year. You’ll have a clean slate to set new goals, continue habits you built at the end of this year or start new projects.

The Women of Emanu-El (WE) sisterhood has been working on its many goals. One goal was focused on membership. We proudly have 74 members and one third of them are new to WE. We are excited to get the members actively involved.

Another goal we have focused on involves community involvement. We have brought in two book authors and had many members as well as community members join us at these events. WE will continue to offer these events to our members as well as the community. WE recognize that you have many options for your involvement and are happy that you chose to spend them at our events. And for our CEEBJ Staff, the annual staff luncheon will be on Thursday, December 14. We will also have our third annual fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen on Thursday, December 14. Please plan on coming for dinner. Last year CEEBJ members filled half of the restaurant. Whether you eat in, drive thru or carry out, the Women of Emanu-El will get 20% of the sales generated donated back to them. Hope to see you there!

We have a new activity that is trying to get off the ground. We need your involvement! It is held during the day, so, for those who don’t like to drive at night, this may be perfect for you. We are offering “Canasta and Coloring.” If you want to play or want to learn to play, come join us! Those of you who just want to hang out and explore your creative side, we have coloring options as well as other crafts. Call Carol Lewensohn at (414) 708- 6000 or email her at [email protected]

Please mark your calendars for Friday, December 15. The Woman of Emanu-El will once again organize the Hanukkah Latke/Chinese Dinner. Adults are $15 and children are $8. This event will begin at 6 pm with services to follow. The Oneg will provide traditional Hanukkah desserts and many “draidle games” will be ongoing during this time.

Don’t forget to stop at the Judaica Shoppe Around the Corner for all your Hanukkah wrapping paper, candles, unique gifts, wooden draidles, coin-wrapped gelt and more. See you there! Call Tiffany at (414) 228-7545 or email [email protected] to make your reservation today!

There is so much more to discuss, so please join us at our next meeting on Thursday, December 7 at 7:00 pm.
