Thanks for Beautiful Days of Awe
Hopefully you had a meaningful and awe inspiring High Holy Days experience this year. I want to thank our outstanding High Holy Day choir and much appreciation goes out to our proficient Torah and Haftarah Readers who helped make our services so beautiful.
We are so blessed to have such talented members of our congregation chant Torah and Haftarah during our High Holy Day services and during our Children’s services. Congratulations to Jordan Biller, Allison Dorf, Sara Gendelman, Eve Janavitz, Aaron Konz, Taliah Lansing, Barb Levin, Gabe Richheimer, Kayla Salter and Ela Zvi, who chanted Torah for the first time this High Holy Days. Our congregation is fortunate to have all those who so beautifully chanted and honored us. Also, congratulations to Shira Grinker for chanting Haftarah Blessings for the first time during our Rosh HaShanah service!
A hearty thanks to Michael Taibleson, Amy Kazilsky and Rob Stern for blowing shofar on the first and second days of Rosh Hashanah– we were treated to a stereophonic blowing of three shofars positioned around the sanctuary! Also, thanks to Alex Butenhoff for blowing shofar during the Children’s services.
A huge thanks to Sheri Masiakowski and Rodney Loren for accompanying superbly on the organ during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, to John Patek for playing cello and violin on Erev Yom Kippur, to Rick Kieffer for masterfully conducting our choir, and to Scott Finch as well for providing clear and balanced sound during the services.
Our adult choir has a fun time singing at Shabbat services once a month and we would love to have you join us and increase our ranks even further! We also chant Torah each month during the Birthday Blessing Shabbat. If you are interested in honoring our congregation by chanting Torah at one of these services throughout the year, please contact me to work out a schedule. All are encouraged to chant!
I am enjoying my Sabbatical time in Israel and it is extremely fulfilling. Right now during these first days of November, Debra, I and Amy Ginsberg are participating in the Israel Ride from Jerusalem to Eilat. Please check out our blog on the CEEBJ website.
Debra and I hope you had a wonderful Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and trust that you enjoyed the holidays of Sukkot and Simhat Torah!
