A very special thank you to conductor and composer Chris Tackett who premiered his Shabbat Shirah service on Friday, February 10. The service was lovely and all who attended were enamored with the music; his explanation of his inspiration for the compositions was captivating. Our deepest appreciation to Audrey Brooks who commissioned this service, honoring the 75th anniversary of her parents, Rose and Harry Yampol, joining the congregation and the continuing affiliation of the Yampol/Brooks/Moser families.

Our thanks also goes to pianist Bill Hindin and flautist Laura Straus for their beautiful accompaniment, and to the members of our Adult Choir for their superb singing: Andrew Appel, Lois Brazner, Audrey Brooks, Merzy Eisenberg, John Illian, Rick Kieffer, Jean Lauterbach, Dick Lauwasser, Margaret Luck, Nicole Masters, Richard Masters, Nancy Miller, Michael Taibleson and Arthur Thexton. Finally, our gratitude to Rick Kieffer for serving as our rehearsal conductor for the six weeks prior to the service.

Margaret Luck gracefully chanted the majestic verses of Shirat HaYam, the Song of the Sea, and all enjoyed her lovely rendition. The musically-themed oneg Shabbat was scrumptious! We will continue to sing these songs at our services to keep these beautiful melodies close to our hearts.

Our CEEBJ Band will be performing spirited songs at the Jewish Home on Sunday, March 5, at 1:30 pm. All are invited to attend and hear our band featuring Dan Dance on piano, Nicholas Grider on clarinet, Gary Kavalar on alto sax, Jean Lauterbach on French horn, Barb Levin on alto sax, Michael Levin on oboe, Morrie Rudberg on trumpet, Laura Straus on flute, Michael Taibleson on trumpet, and Pam Treisman on English horn. Also, we are eager to have Russ Eisenberg join us again on piano soon! All are invited to attend, and please bring your friends!

Purim is in the air!!

Please join us on Purim for our own “Les Miz – Les Megillah” Purim Spiel on Sunday morning, March 12. The morning service and Purim Spiel begin at 10:30 am, immediately followed by the Purim carnival and lunch.

Please come to our Children’s Choir Purim/Pesach performance at the Sarah Chudnow campus on Sunday, March 19, at 11:30 am. There, our CEEBJ Children’s Choir will treat you to some beautiful Purim and Pesach songs accompanied by Bill Hindin on piano.

Wishing you a wonderful Purim,
Cantor David Barash
