From Our President
This year, we experienced an exciting, and unexpected Brewers season which falls just short of the playoffs. For the 13th year, the Brotherhood volunteered at Miller Park, working in the concessions, to raise money. The Brotherhood also had an exciting and unexpected year. We raised more money than any other season. This was due to great attendance, exciting new food offerings and the Brewers unexpected success. The increased crowds forced more stands to be opened, and at times, additional bonuses to be paid, for working these games. It was with the efforts of all our volunteers that made this such a special fund-raiser and showed how the efforts of a few people can positively impact the funds available to help the many.
We also participated in two unique events. A group of volunteers went on a 15 hour day, and worked a Packers game at Lambeau Field. Additionally, when Hurricane Irma forced the Marlins game to be relocated to Miller Park, our volunteers rearranged their schedules to work on short notice. Both events paid us a per-person bonus, plus commission, for working these games. I would like to thank Mark Holland, Frank Berg, Michelle Dloogoff, Ruth Treisman, Andy Zukrow and Jonathan Wertz. These six individuals worked either or BOTH of these events, to take advantage of this additional fundraising opportunity.
The Brotherhood was able to raise additional funds when the Marlins were forced to play their games in Milwaukee. In October, the Brotherhood Board voted to share the funds of this event with hurricane relief efforts for Florida, Texas and Puerto Rico. We will be using this money to make donations to all three locations while rebuilding continues.
I want to invite you to join us at the Packers Tailgate Party on November 12, to watch the Packers vs. Bears. At halftime, we will honor all of our volunteers who worked this year at Miller Park. If you would like to be part of this fun group, please let me or Mark Holland know.
As always, we look forward to seeing you at our monthly Brotherhood meeting, the first Thursday of the month at 6 pm, for dinner and good discussion. Remember, this is open to all members of the Brotherhood, or those who are interested in learning more about the Brotherhood.
