New: How-to Holiday Workshops

If you have questions about holidays, or you’ve been wondering about their significance, come to this adult-level class during religious school to learn more! We’ll study the texts, the traditions, and the home observances of different holidays on February 5, March 4, April 1, and May 6. Each class stands alone; come to as many as you’d like!

Believe it or not, we can use the ancient wisdom of Judaism to answer many of life’s most modern and difficult questions. Come explore the varieties of rabbinic logic, multiple opinions, and Jewish wisdom, and along the way, learn that Jewish tradition really can answer just about any question.

Among the various ways of understanding Tanach (our Biblical text) is the traditional Jewish way known as Midrash. We will explore several Midrashic understandings from Talmud and other works.

Yiddish is Alive and Well and Living in Milwaukee!

Learn the history of Yiddish, its colorful expressions, and some conversation. No previous knowledge of Yiddish is necessary.

torah and Beyond

This class strives to create conversation among Torah commentators and class participants, allowing us to ask questions and explore the text in new ways. CEEBJ book club 2011
