Cantor David Barash – “Musical Happenings” – January 1, 2017 from Ha-Kol

A hearty thank you to the members of our Children’s Choir: Hazel Alpren, Alex Berg, Alan Cohen, Isaac Feiges, Julianna Franklin, Lucy Girton, Ahlena Jacobsohn, Will Jacobsohn, Benji Kane, Hailey Kane, Eli Levin, Elliot Lippman, Sam Lippman, Brian McMahon, Logan McMahon, Ashtyn Michael, Adelyne O’Connor, Benjamin Raphael, Nathan Raphael, Hailee Redlin, Dominique Reiher, Ellie Schwade, Sam Schwade, Levi Stein, Zev Stein, Declan Winterfield and Rowan Winterfield who participated in a special Hanukkah program at the Sarah Chudnow campus on Sunday, December 18. The voices of the choir rang out sweet and loud and all enjoyed seeing and hearing our conogregation youth accompanied by Bill Hindin on piano. Kol HaKavod!

Calling All Actors! Please join us in performing our own “Les Miz – Les Megillah” Purim Spiel on Sunday morning, March 12. Our read-through for kids and adults will take place on Thursday, January 5, at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary. (See the front cover of Ha Kol.) For further information, contact me.

On Friday, January 6, at 2:00 pm, please come and participate in a Shabbat Sing, at Laurel Oaks, 1700 W. Bender Rd., where I will sing Shabbat songs with the residents, accompanied by Dan Dance on piano. Additional Shabbat Sings will continue the first Friday of each month.

Also, please share your talent with us at our 3rd Annual CEEBJ Variety Show scheduled for Sunday, January 29. All interested performers – please show off your stuff at the Demo Day on Sunday, January 8, at 11:30 am. Please see page 13 of Ha-Kol for more info.
On Friday, February 10, at 7:30 pm, we will celebrate Shabbat Shira – A Shabbat in Song. During this service, the Adult Choir will premiere a new special Shabbat Shira service composed by Chris Tackett and commissioned by Audrey Brooks. (Please see featured article on the front cover). The composer will be here that evening and will conduct our choir! Margaret Luck will also chant these majestic verses of praise from the Torah so that you can witness their beauty and power. We look forward to your participation in this service!
