From Brotherhood President Garrett Butenhoff – February 1, 2017 from Ha-Kol

February 1st, 2017 by

The Brotherhood has been around for over 80 years and continues to be a vibrant part of this Congregation. All of the programs and fundraising that we do could not be accomplished without the volunteers who give of their time for the betterment of the Congregation. While the Brotherhood membership nears almost 200, we still need your help. My father used to speak of the 80/20 rule, as it pertains to sales, and I believe it works here, too. About 20% of our Brotherhood members volunteer for about 80% of the programs/committees.

I am asking you to become more involved with the Brotherhood. Not only will you find a great group of guys (and some gals) to work with, you will also find a way to give to your Congregation without opening your wallet. We have a number of members, who have decades of experience in running our programs, and they would love to share their knowledge and expertise. This is not a part-time job, nor a permanent commitment, won’t keep you from your family time, and I promise you will not be left on an island to fend for yourself. We are looking for the next generation of Brotherhood Members to help transition to the future. This will allow us to expand our programming and fundraising activities and ensure that the Brotherhood will be around for another 80 years.

Please reach out to me, or any of our members, and get involved! You can email me, call me; my number is in that awesome Temple Directory (a Brotherhood fundraiser) or usually find me drinking coffee Sunday mornings in the lounge or Surlow Hall. I would love to speak with you. Or join us for dinner and a meeting, the first Thursday of the month at 6 pm. Remember, this is open to all members of the Brotherhood or those who are interested in learning more about the Brotherhood.
